Week #2 Semi-Finalist: Megan B….Proud Marine Wife

I’d like you all to meet Megan B….

My name is Megan, and my husband and I have been married since Nov 11th, 2011.
We met my freshman year of high school and quickly became best friends. We grew with each other as we saw others growing apart. Even after he joined the Marine Corps while I was a senior in high school(2007), and stationed several hundred miles away, we remained close.

It wasn’t until until 2011 when Robert and I became “officially” together. By this time we had both helped each other through some failed relationships & supported one another with each decision made.
In March of 2011 Robert was on is 4th deployment in Afghanistan when he was hit by an IED. He lost both his legs below the knee and was flown to Maryland to get medical treatment.
He asked me to be there for him, so I put college and work aside & flew out from Arizona to be with him. This brought us even closer together, and almost two months later when he was transferred to the Ca med center we started dating.
Our Nov wedding was very small with just our immediate family. The picture submitted was taken on our wedding night.
He’s currently still in Ca, waiting to get out of the Marines as a sergeant, while I’m staying in Az.
On top of the loss if his limbs, and the distance, we’re still best friends and I can’t imagine my life without him. We both know there will be harder, more difficult obstacles we’ll need to face in the future, but together we know we can make it through.
