My husband is an active duty soldier in the U.S. Army, we are currently stationed at our first duty station, Fort Campbell, KY coming from our hometown of Colorado Springs, CO. We’ve been together for 8 years this July, we will soon have our third child and we are on our first deployment. The challenges we’ve faced so far have been the times apart for training, preparing for this deployment and saying our ‘see you laters’. The biggest challenge so far will be having my husband miss the birth of our third child, second son in June (2013). I know that communicating as often as possible will help make it easier and to help the time go by faster until he is home again.
Our 4 year old took the picture I’ve attached as we said our ‘see you laters’ when my husband deployed.
The contest runs through Labor Day Weekend — keep sending in those entries!
Who is eligible?Wives of any U.S. military service member may enter. Retired or active-duty.
How do you enter? Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with a picture of you and your family member in uniform. Tell us a bit about what branch he serves in, where you’ve been stationed, challenges and so forth. We want to hear your story!
Please put “5th Annual Military Spouse Contest” in the subject line.
Throughout the summer, I will pick one entrant to be highlighted on my blog. These entrants are semi-finalists and then Labor Day weekend I will announce the three winners.
I hope you’ll help me spread the word about this contest. I look forward to meeting more incredible families!
